July 2nd Update

As we enter July, and we move into the middle of summer, we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we continue to navigate these unprecedented times.  Please find updates on current and upcoming events at our pool below:

Swim Team

The swim team has begun with success! We are really pleased with the first few days of socially distanced swim team. The team will be practicing in the pool from 9:15 to 12:00 Monday through Friday until the end of July.  Thanks for sharing the pool for this important activity for the kids.

Water Aerobics starts Thursday July 2
The class includes aerobics, strength, flexibility, balance, and fun exercises.  The 45-minute classes are open at no cost to both permanent and summer members.  The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am – 9:15am starting July 2nd. Those attending the water aerobics class do not need a reservation in the system but will need to check in with staff. Questions?  Contact Marianne at cinthe@verizon.net or 301-229-6690.

No Shows Are Becoming a Problem
If you have signed up for a slot for the pool, and you decide not to attend, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible but at least 2 hours before the start of your reservation.  Please know that space is limited this year, and when you don’t show up, it takes a spot from other members. There are many members who are unable to get spots. Please be fair to others. Here are the directions to cancel your reservation: https://bannockburnpool.com/summer2020/how-to-make-cancel-reservations/

Members will now find a Reservations tab in their manage account screen (under Member tab) where they can view all of their past and upcoming reservations and cancel any upcoming ones they no longer wish to use. If you are unable to use the online cancellation system, the lifeguards can cancel a reservation by calling (301) 229-6876 between the hours of 12PM-5PM when the pool is open.

Reminder of four visit per week Reservation Limit
Many reservation slots are now filling to capacity quickly so we want to remind you of the reservation limits we put into place to try to ensure everyone gets to use the pool while we still have to limit capacity:

  • Each family member is allowed three weekday visits (Monday – Friday)
  • Each family member is allowed one visit on the weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Members are asked to come only once per day (no double visits)

Please note early morning lap swimming and swim team practices do not count towards these limits.  Additionally, if there is inclement weather causing the pool to close during your session that will not be counted towards the allotment.

This is an honor system.  Going forward, as we see individuals exceed the limit for a week or weekend, your last reservation will be cancelled.  We will not notify you in advance of this cancellation.

Grills

The grills are now open for member use. Please make sure you bring your own grill tongs and wipes to clean high touch surfaces before and after grilling.

Stroke Coaching/Swim LessonsGiven social distancing requirements, all swim lessons this summer will be focused on stroke improvement versus learn-to-swim.  Learn-to-swim lessons where instructors are in the water with children are simply not possible per health department guidelines.  We plan to kick-off stroke coaching lessons the week of July 6th.  Each 30-minute session will be $25 with payment to be handled directly with the instructor who will be our swim coaches and lifeguards.  Please go to pool website Activities page and let us know about your child’s current swimming level and objectives for the lessons and an instructor will be in-touch the week of July 6th.
