May 19, 2022 – Newsletter

Dear Bannockburn Swim Club Members,

BOOYAH!  Opening day is this Saturday, May 21 at 10:30 am!  The weather is looking perfect for opening weekend. A very warm welcome to all our newest members. Here is some information we hope will be helpful as you start to enjoy some upcoming family time poolside.

Pool Hours
While MPCS schools are still open, our pool is open weekdays and holidays for Early Bird Adult Swim from 6:30 – 8:30 am, weekends from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm and weekdays 3:00 – 8:00 pm.  (Please note our swim team will begin practices on May 24 and take up most of the swim lanes on May 24 until mid-July from 3:30 – 6:30 pm weekdays).   On June 20 hours will shift to 10:30 am – 8:00 pm daily in addition to Early Bird hours stated above.

Communications & Text Alerts
Sign up for pool text alerts to receive timely notices about weather-related pool closures, changes to hours, food trucks, social events, etc. Opt out of the text alerts at any time by texting Stop as a reply. Feel free to register other family members for these alerts too.
Open your phone’s camera settings and point to the QR Code below to sign up. (Just push send with the auto-populated word bburnpool).  Alternatively you can text Bburnpool to 662 200 4303 to subscribe.

Also, please add info@bannnockburnpool.com to your email safe list.  We communicate regularly with our members from this address throughout the summer.

Swim & Dive Team Registration Open
For families new to the pool, joining the swim or dive team or both is a great way for kids 5-18 to make new friends, have fun, get some exercise while getting immersed in the true pool culture. Swim Team information and registration can be found here and Dive Team here. The Dive Team will be having an informal meet and greet on Sunday, May 22, from 5-6 pm. Children ages 5 and up and all skill levels are most welcome!

Masters Swim Classes for Adults
Looking to enhance your boring, repetitive lap swimming workout? Do you want to increase your fitness through consistent and fun swim practices with teammates? REGISTRATION IS OPEN now to all adults (18+).  This new program is led by our Bannockburn Swim Team Coach Lucca Scott and is open to all skill levels. (Cost is $75 for multiple sessions).

Guest Passes
Your membership allows you to bring guests into the pool.  You can purchase the guest passes ahead of time by accessing your account.  Guest passes never expire and can be kept in your account for future seasons, or you can ask for a refund at the end of the season. Guest fees are $5 for all ages Monday – Friday and $10 for adults 18 and older weekends and holidays.  Even if guests are not swimming they must still use a guest pass to come inside. Children under 18 are $5 all week long including weekends.  Guests must be accompanied by a member at all times during the duration of their stay at the pool.  For members bringing in 10 or more guests, please complete a party reservation request below.

Party Reservations
For groups of 10 or more people, we ask that you fill out a party reservation request on our website here ideally 1-2 weeks prior to your event.
Members are asked to purchase ample guest passes before hosting a party.

Swim Lessons
Whether your children are just learning how to swim, your teenagers interested in improving their techniques, or you in “remembering” how to backstroke, our swim coaches and lifeguards are available for lessons.   For more information and to sign up, go here.  Fees range from $25-40 for 30 minutes paid directly to the instructor depending on experience and skill level. (Minimum age of child for lessons is 3).

Adult Water Aerobics
Marianne Ross is back and will be offering her free adult water aerobics twice a week to all members.  We are finalizing the dates and times now and will communicate more shortly.

No Glass
We have a strict NO GLASS policy.  Please bring food and drinks in non-glass containers. Wine and beer is allowed as long as it is brought in non-glass.

No Recycling & New Water Filling Station
Unfortunately we were getting fined constantly since many of our members were comingling trash with recyclables.  If recycling is important to you please bring your recycles home with you.  On a positive note, we have a new refrigerated water filling station, thanks to our new board member Chris Rogers who spearheaded that project.

Parking
We have a small parking lot.  If you park on the nearby residential streets please do not block neighbors’ driveways or park on their grass.

Food Trucks and Restaurant Deliveries
Our pool is famous for great gourmet, ethnic food offerings brought in by trucks and restaurants. Please check our calendar often to see the weekly line up. These small, mostly immigrant, family-owned companies are still struggling due to the impact of Covid so would really appreciate your business.  Please consider ordering from them on days they’re on site rather than brining your own food to make it worth their while. This weekend we will have Clayboy’s Hawaiian Shaved Ice on Sat. from 12-2 pm and CB Acai bowls, smoothie and wraps on Sunday from noon-3 pm.

Please write info@bannockburnpool.com if you have any questions or feedback.   We hope to meet many of our newcomers in the upcoming days and happy swimming to all!

Warmly,
Your Volunteer Bannockburn Swim Club Board of Directors
