The Week Ahead – July 22

Dear pool members,

We’re looking at hot and humid weather this weekend.  What better way to cool off and spend time poolside?  Plus, we have some fun activities planned for this weekend.  Read ahead.

First and foremost, a very warm welcome to our new late season members who will be joining us this weekend for the rest of the season!

Extended Hours on Weekends

Based on feedback from our members, we have extended our closing time on weekends (Friday – Sunday) to 8:30 pm, instead of 8:00 pm for at least the next three weeks while it still remains light out.  Guards will blow the whistle at 8:15 pm to allow members to begin packing up their belongings for a prompt 8:30 pm exit.

Early Closure Saturday, July 23

Our swim team will be having their end of season banquet this Saturday so we will be closing the pool early at 5:30 pm.

Save the Date – Happy Hour Friday, July 29 @ 6:30 pm

Come join us at the grill area of the pool to welcome new late season members and meet some of the volunteer board of directors.  We will have light refreshments and everyone is most welcome!

Sunday, July 24 Music in the Lot and Little Lady Food Truck

Little Lady Grill 4:00 – 8:00 pm
Bannockburn Pool is famous for its gourmet food offerings.  Most of these small, family-owned businesses are still recovering from huge financial losses during Covid.  Please consider ordering from them on their visits, rather than bringing your own, to make it worth their while.

Meet Glenda and The Little Lady Latin Fusion Grill Truck who are returning by popular demand.  Check out her menu options here (scroll down to the bottom of the page).  You can call or text your order in advance with your desired pick up time at 703-475-4576.  Please do not email orders! Pre-orders preferred, but walk ups are also welcome. This is a family owned and family oriented business that specializes in an all grilled menu that features healthy food of the finest quality.

Free Live Music Concert in Lot 5:30 – 7:30 pm

General MacArthur & The Boulevards, a beloved and local Bannockburn Rock n Blues Band will be playing for the whole pool and community to kick off summer music in the ‘hood! Richard Aitken, Mark Dubester, Don Fitzgerald, Andy Garrett, Amr Khani, Pam Toole & Aaron Zitner are looking forward to celebrating with the community. We will be closing half our parking lot so people can bring lawn chairs and kids can run around and play. Please park in the nearby residential streets and walk down if you’re driving.

Swim Team Wrapping Up a Great Season
After a few years of repeated defeat, Coach Malena and the Bannockburn Dolphins shocked Division E this summer by rising towards the top, with an almost undefeated record (no worries – we’ll get the Woodcliffe Wahoos next time!).  The most exciting meet, by far, was with our neighborhood rivals, the Merrimack Maniacs – Bannockburn took the win by over 100 points!  Bannockburn celebrates our incredible seniors, Sophie Duncan, Andrew O’Brien and Jacob Seiberg and wishes them well in their next adventures.  The Swim Team Committee also honors two of the most dedicated volunteers, Shelly O’Brien and Stephanie Curcuru – they have both demonstrated a tireless commitment as Team Rep and Lead Automation and they will be very missed next year.
While the 2022 Bannockburn Dolphin season is almost over, there are still many exciting events happening this week.  Saturday, swimmers will race in the final team meet of the season – Divisionals – this is where all 6-teams in the Division duke it out, one final time.  Following Divisionals, the swimmers will trade their racing suits for fancy suits and celebrate the 2022 season at the end of season banquet.  Congratulations to the Bannockburn Dolphins and the incredible coaching staff (Malena, Lucca, Valerie, Tess, and Will) for another amazing season.
Warmly,

Your Volunteer Board of Directors
