Roaming Rooster’s fried chicken is a DMV gem! Hareg Mesfin and Michael and Biniyam Habtemariam, all hailing from Ethiopia, started their unique business in 2015, serving free range and grain fed fried chicken. They believe that the best ingredients should be served to their customers because they are the best too! The Habtemariam brothers learned to cook at a young age, helping their father who lost his left hand in a plane crash. Coming to the United States in 2012, they perfected their fried chicken recipe and began Roaming Rooster with one food truck and quickly expanded to four and a restaurant! Then came the fateful tweet in Fall 2019, that praised their fried chicken in comparison to Popeye’s, and their business blew up—with lines out the door at their restaurant every day. The incredible Roaming Rooster family has donated countless free meals to frontline hospital workers during the coronavirus pandemic, provided meals to Black Lives Matter protestors in DC and now is supplying food for families in need in various DC neighborhoods. They want everyone to share in a little honey butter crunch of Roaming Rooster fried chicken. Enjoy!
